EQUITY AND EMPOWERMENT FOR EVANSTON FAMILIES
Empowering Youth, Fostering Community, Shaping Futures

Camp Kuumba
As the sixth principle of Kwanzaa, Kuumba means to always do as much as we can, in the way we can, to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.
Camp Kuumba is a free summer program designed to give Black boys and girls who live in Evanston equitable opportunities to discover themselves and the world around them through their participation in sports, arts, reading, exploration, financial literacy, STEM, and community service projects. The goal of Camp Kuumba is to engage, encourage, and empower our young Black men and women to reach their fullest potential.
Girls Camp Kuumba
Our 2nd summer of Kuumba Girls Camp. So many great bonds formed, amazing field trips and guest speakers. We are looking forward to growing and building our girls programming. Check out this cool video recap of the Inaugural Camp Kuumba for Girls! We are expanding to include 7th and 8th graders Summer 2025!
The opportunity for students to attend the incredible experience of Camp Kuumba free of cost is only possible through the generous support of our community members and partners.
